Salary:  Research Assistant £27,831 - £29,515 (PhD pending)
             Research Associate £30,395 - £39,610 (PhD awarded)

Newcastle University has an exciting opportunity to focuses on improving materials performance in chemical looping systems by investigating novel materials and structures. Key tasks would include performing kinetic experiments, writing peer reviewed publications, presenting finds at meetings; aiding PhD student supervision and day-to-day running of the lab.

Applicants should have a PhD (awarded or near completion) in chemical engineering, materials science or a related subject with experience in at least one of the following: chemical looping, inorganic ion-conducting oxide membranes, synthesis, characterisation and application of metal oxides in chemical processes including the study of surface exchange and ion transport processes. You will be hard working, show initiative and be able to work in a team. We expect excellent technical competency, good laboratory skills plus original and creative thinking. The successful applicant will be developing their expertise in an area highly relevant to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in energy and industrial processes.
